Historical Context
After the democratic movement of 2007 BS, schools began to be established rapidly across Nepal. However, Dhading district, despite being close to the capital, saw little educational development at that time. Although the district headquarters Sunaulabazar was only about two hours away on foot, schools in Khhalte VDC (now Nilkantha-5) were established only in 2017 BS. The first school was Shankhadevi Primary School (now Secondary School) in Patle, Nilkantha-1. Students from the service area of Panchakanya Secondary School had to attend that school for primary education, and for higher studies, they had to go to Bhairavi Secondary School (now Higher Secondary) in Sunaulabazar. Small children had to walk for hours through forests and hills regardless of weather, which led local elders to realize the need for a school in Phakse. Before Panchakanya’s establishment, schools had already been opened in wards 1, 3, and 9 of Khhalte VDC.
इतिहासवि.सं. २००७ सालको प्रजातन्त्रको उदय पश्चात नेपालमा विद्यालय स्थापनामा तिव्रता आएपनि राजधानी संगै जोडिएको धादिङ जिल्लामा भने तत्कालिन समयमा खासै विकास भएको देखिन्न । धादिङ जिल्लाको तत्कालिन सदरमुकाम सुनौलाबजारसंगै सिमाना जोडिएको र करिब २ घण्टाको पैदल यात्राको दुरीमा रहेपनि साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ ५)मा भने वि.सं. २०१७सालमा मात्रै विद्यालय स्थापना भएको हो । सुरुमा साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ १)को पात्लेमा शंखादेवी प्रावि (हाल मा.वि.) स्थापना भएको हो । हाल यस पञ्चकन्या माध्यमिक विद्यालयको सेवा क्षेत्रका सबै विद्यार्थीहरु पनि तत्कालिन समयमा उक्त विद्यालयमा नै प्रावि तहको अध्ययनका लागि जाने गरेका थिए भने त्यो भन्दा माथिल्लो तहको पढाईका लागि सुनौलाबजारको भैरबी मा.वि. (हाल उ.मा.वि.)मा जानु पर्ने बाध्यता थियो । साना साना बालबालिका हरु घामपानी नभनीकन जंगलको बाटो घण्टौँको उकालो हिडेर पढ्न जानुपर्ने बाध्यतालाई बुझेर स्थानीय अग्रजहरुले फ्याक्सेमा पनि विद्यालय को स्थापना हुनुपर्ने ठानेर त्यसका लागि पहल आरम्भ गर्नुभयो । यो विद्यालय स्थापना हुनु अघि साविकको खाल्टे गा.वि.स.को वडा नं. १, ३ र ९ मा विद्यालय स्थापना भइसकेको थियो ।
साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ ५)को केन्द्रको रुपमा रहेको वडा नं. ६ फ्याक्सेमा विद्यालय नहुँदा यहाँका साना साना बालबालिकाहरु किताब कापी बोकेर दैनिक उकालो ओरालो धाउन बाध्य थिए । सो देखेर स्थानीय समाजसेवी तारानाथ ढुङ्गानाको पहलमा यस ठाउँमा पनि विद्यालय स्थापना गर्ने निर्णय भयो । विद्यालय सञ्चालनका लागि सर्वप्रथम भवनको आवश्यकता पर्ने हुनाले भवन निर्माणका लागि जग्गाको आवश्यकता प¥यो । जसका लागि सबैभन्दा पायक पर्ने स्थान स्थानीय श्री लाल बहादुर श्रेष्ठको जग्गा थियो । निज श्रेष्ठको मृत्यु भइसकेको अवस्थामा निजकी हकवाला छोरी श्री मैना श्रेष्ठबाट विद्यालय स्थापनाका लागि १ रोपनी ३ आना क्षेत्रफलको जग्गा निशूल्क प्राप्त भयो ।
यसरी निशूल्क रुपमा जग्गा प्राप्त भएपछि स्थानीयको विद्यालय स्थापना गर्ने उत्साहमा उर्जा थपियो । स्थानीय समाजसेवीहरु राम प्रसाद ढुङ्गाना, सोमनाथ ढुङ्गाना, चन्द्र बहादुर श्रेष्ठ, स्वर्गीय मान बहादुर श्रेष्ठ, डिल बहादुर श्रेष्ठ, कृष्ण प्रसाद रिजाल, बेदबहादुर श्रेष्ठ, छविराम श्रेष्ठ, लिला बहादुर श्रेष्ठ लगायतको सक्रियता तथा सम्पूर्ण स्थानीयको आर्थिक तथा भौतिक सहयोगका कारण विद्यालयको ६ कोठे भवन तयार भयो ।
विद्यालयको भवन निर्माण सम्पन्न भएपनि आधिकारिक रुपमा तत्कालिन शिक्षा पञ्चायतबाट स्विकृति हुन सकेको थिएन । तत्कालिन जिल्ला शिक्षा समितिको सदस्य श्री विष्णु कुमार श्रेष्ठको पहलमा वि.सं. २०३३÷०९÷०९ गते विद्यालयको स्वीकृति एवम् २शिक्षक दरबन्दी समेत प्राप्त हुन आयो । जसका कारण यस विद्यालयमा कक्षा १ देखि ४ सम्मको पठनपाठन आरम्भ भयो । यस भेगका जनताको चाहना तथा सक्रियताका कारण वि.सं.२०३६-११-२९ को जिल्ला शिक्षा समिति धादिङको पत्रानुसार कक्षा ७ सम्म सञ्चालनको अनुमति प्राप्त भयो । तत्कालिन श्री ५ को सरकारको कक्षा ६–८ लाई निम्न माध्यमिक विद्यालय बनाउने नीति अनुरुप यस विद्यालय मा पनि वि.सं. २०५१-०१-१५ बाट ८ कक्षा सञ्चालनमा आएको हो ।
करिब ११ वर्ष पछि निम्न माध्यमिक तह बाट यो विद्यालय माध्यमिक तहमा स्तरोन्नती हुन सकेको हो । माध्यमिक तहको अध्ययनका लागि सुनौलाबजार सम्म जानुपर्ने बाध्यताका बिच स्थानीय जनताको प्रत्यक्ष जनचासोमा विद्यालय माध्यमिक कक्षामा स्तरोन्नती हुन सकेको हो । जसका लागि वि.सं. २०६२ सालमा अनुमति प्राप्त भई वि.सं.२०६३ सालबाट कक्षा ९ तथा २०६४ सालमा कक्षा १० सञ्चालन भई सोही वर्ष पहिलो पटक विद्यार्थीहरु प्रवेशिका परीक्षामा सहभागी भएका हुन् । शैेक्षिक सत्र २०७६ सालबाट कक्षा ११ सञ्चालन गरिएको छ ।हाल कक्षा ११र १२ नै पठनपाठन भइरहेको यस विद्यालयको शैक्षिक गुणस्तरमा पनि वृद्धि भएको छ। ऐतिहासिक धादिङ जिल्लाको सदरमुकाम धादिङबेशीबाट करिब १४ कि.मि.पूर्वमा अवस्थित खाल्टे गा.वि.स. सदरमुकाम रहेको नीलकण्ठ नगरपालिका संग जोडिएको गा.वि.स. थियो तर अहिलेको स्थानीय पुनर्संरचनामा खाल्टे गाविस पनि नीलकण्ठ नगरपालिकामै गाभिएको र वडा नं. ५ भएको छ । साविकको खाल्टे गा.वि.स.को मध्यभागमा अवस्थित यस पञ्चकन्या माध्यमिक विद्यालय हाल नीलकण्ठ नगरपालिकाको वडा नं. ५ फ्याक्सेमा रहेको छ । पूर्वमा साविकको कल्लेरी गा.वि.स.तथा नुवाकोट जिल्ला, पश्चिममा जिल्ला सदरमुकाम, उत्तरमा साविकको धुँवाकोट गा.वि.स. तथा दक्षिणमा घुमाउने डाँडा र उत्तरमा जिल्लाकै प्रसिद्ध चमेरेगुफा समेत रहेको छ । भौगोलिक रुपमा हेर्दा २७ कै ८’ अक्षांस र ८४ कै ९’ देशान्तरमा अवस्थित यस विद्यालय समुन्द्री सतहबाट १०२४मिटर उचाईमा रहेको छ । धादिङ जिल्लाको एकमात्र नगरपालिका नीलकण्ठ नगरपालिका वडा नं ५ मा घरधुरी सर्वेक्षण, २०७८ को तथ्याङ्क अनुसार ३५९८ जनसंख्या रहेको देखिन्छ । जसमध्ये विद्यालय अवस्थित रहेको नी.न.पा ५ मा १९४३ महिला तथा १९४३ पुरुषहरु रहेका छन् ।
यस विद्यालय को सेवा क्षेत्र भित्र विभिन्न जातजातिको बसोबास रहेको छ । जस अन्तरगत ब्राह्मण, क्षत्री, नेवार, गुरुङ, मगर, सार्की, कामी लगायतको बसोबास रहेको छ । ति मध्ये मुख्य रुपमा नेवार, मगर तथा क्षत्रीहरुको बाहुल्यता रहेको छ ।
विविध जातजाति बिच आपसी मेलमिलापका साथ रहेको यस क्षेत्रका सबैको मातृभाषाका रुपमा नेपाली नै रहेको पाइन्छ । धार्मिक रुपमा हिन्दुहरुको बाहुल्यता रहेता पनि क्रिश्चियन तथा बौद्ध धर्मालम्वीहरुको पनि बसोबास रहेको छ । धार्मिक सहिष्णुताका साथ बसेका स्थानीयहरु दशैं, तिहार, जनैपूर्णिमा लगायतका चाडपर्वहरु धुमधामका साथ मनाउने गर्दछन् । यसका साथै यहाँका नेवारहरुले मनाउने लाखेजात्रा तथा टाकटुके नाचपनि नी.न.पा भर नै प्रख्यात छ ।
साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ ५ )मा रहेको चमेरे गुफा, लामागुरु, कालिका मन्दिर, पञ्चकन्या मन्दिर, मनरुपा मन्दिर, श्रीकृष्ण मन्दिर तथा गुम्बा पनि पर्यटकका लागि राम्रो गन्तव्य स्थलका रुपमा विकसित हुँदै गइरहेको छ ।यसका साथै जिल्लाकै पहिलो घरबास कार्यक्रम (होमस्टे) पनि यसै साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ १)मा सञ्चालनमा छ । साथै यस साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ ५ )मा रहेका गैरदलित समुदायले पनि पञ्चेबाजा बजाएको चर्चा जिल्लामा मात्रै होइन, देशैभर चलेको छ ।
प्रमुख रुपमा कृषि पेशा अपनाएपनि यहाँका स्थानीयहरु देश भित्र तथा बाहिर विभिन्न पेशामा आबद्ध रहेका छन् । कृषि तथा नोकरीमा आश्रित हुनुपरेका कारण यहाँका स्थानीयको आर्थिक अवस्था भने खासै माथि उठ्न सकेको छैन । उपलब्धि ः शैक्षिक रुपमा पनि यस वडामा त्यति धेरै जनशक्ति नरहेको घरधुरी सर्वेक्षणले देखाउँछ । हाल आएर यहाँका मानिसहरुमा छोराछोरीलाई पढाउनु पर्छ भन्ने चेतना भएपनि केही वर्ष पहिलेको अवस्था भने त्यस्तो थिएन । केही वर्षपहिले सम्म विद्याार्थीहरुले बिचैमा कक्षा छाड्ने, विद्यालय बाहिर रहने दर उच्च थियो, जून अहिले नगन्य छ । अहिले समग्र गाउँको शैक्षिक स्तर बिस्तारै माथि उक्लीन थालेको छ । साविकको खाल्टे गाविस(हाल नीलकण्ठ ५ )को केन्द्रमा अवस्थित यस विद्यालय मा मूख्य गरेर वडा नं. ६ हाल नीलकण्ठ ५फ्याक्से, बाहुनडाँडा, देउराली, पतेनी, पिमलखोला, राम्चे, पाल्पाली टोल, खाल्टे, स्यालडाँडा, नीलकण्ठ १ जामुने र गैरीबसाहका बालबालिकाहरु अध्ययन गर्न आउने गरेका छन् । आफन्तको घरमा बसेर पढ्न आएका केही विद्यार्थी बाहेक यस विद्यालयमा यही वडाकै विद्यार्थीहरु रहेका छन् । विद्यालयमा आउने सबैभन्दा टाढा दुरीका विद्यार्थी नीलकण्ठ ५ देउराली र नीलकण्ठ १ जामुनेका हुन्, जो दैनिक रुपमा करिब डेढ घण्टाको पैदल हिँडेर विद्यालय आउने गर्दछन् । वि.सं. २०३३ सालमा कक्षा ७ सम्म पठनपाठन हुने गरी स्थापना गरिएको यस विद्यालयमा वि.सं. २०६३ सालदेखि निरन्तर रुपमा माध्यमिक तह सञ्चालन हुँदै आएको छ । नेपाल सरकारको अवधारणा अनुसार हाल औपचारिक रुपमा बालविकास केन्द्र समेत सञ्चालनमा रहेको छ ।

Founding Effort
Since there was no school in Phakse (ward 6 of Khhalte VDC), children had to walk daily with books uphill and downhill. Seeing this, local social worker Taranath Dhungana initiated the idea of establishing a school. For this, land was required for building construction. The most suitable land belonged to Lal Bahadur Shrestha. After his death, his daughter Maina Shrestha donated 1 ropani 3 aana of land free of cost for the school.
This donation boosted enthusiasm among locals. Social workers like Ram Prasad Dhungana, Somnath Dhungana, Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, Man Bahadur Shrestha, Dil Bahadur Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Rijal, Bed Bahadur Shrestha, Chhabi Ram Shrestha, Lila Bahadur Shrestha and others actively contributed. With collective financial and physical support, a six-room school building was completed.
Official Recognition
Although the building was ready, official approval from the Education Panchayat was pending. With the effort of District Education Committee member Bishnu Kumar Shrestha, the school received approval and two teacher positions on 2033/09/09 BS. Classes 1–4 began. Later, in 2036 BS, permission was granted to run classes up to grade 7. Following government policy to upgrade grades 6–8 to lower secondary, the school started grade 8 in 2051 BS.
Academic Growth
After about 11 years, the school was upgraded to secondary level. With strong local demand, permission was granted in 2062 BS, and classes 9 and 10 started in 2063–64 BS. The first batch appeared in the SLC exam in 2064 BS. Since 2076 BS, classes 11 and 12 have been running, improving academic quality.

The school is located about 14 km east of Dhadingbesi, the district headquarters, at an altitude of 1024 meters.
Boundaries: East – Nuwakot district, West – Dhadingbesi, North – Dhuvankot VDC, South – Ghumane hill.
Coordinates: 27°8′ latitude, 84°9′ longitude.
Population: According to the 2078 household survey, Nilkantha-5 has 3,598 residents (1,943 male and 1,943 female).
Community and Culture
The school’s service area includes diverse ethnic groups: Brahmin, Chhetri, Newar, Gurung, Magar, Sarki, Kami, etc., with Newar, Magar, and Chhetri being the majority.
Language: Nepali is the mother tongue for all.
Religion: Predominantly Hindu, with Christian and Buddhist minorities. Festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Janai Purnima are celebrated, along with famous local traditions like Lakhe Jatra and Tak Tuke dance.
Tourism and Heritage
Nearby attractions include Chamere Cave, Lamaguru, Kalika Temple, Panchakanya Temple, Manrupa Temple, Shree Krishna Temple, and monasteries. The area is also known for Dhading’s first homestay program and traditional Panche Baja music, which has gained fame nationwide.
Economy and Education
Most locals depend on agriculture, though many are engaged in jobs within Nepal and abroad. Economic conditions remain modest.
Educationally, earlier dropout rates were high, but awareness has grown. Today, most children attend school regularly, and literacy levels are steadily improving.
The school mainly serves children from Phakse, Bahundanda, Deurali, Pateni, Pimal Khola, Ramche, Palpali Tole, Khhalte, Syal Danda, Jamune, and Gairibasah. Some students walk up to 1.5 hours daily from distant villages like Deurali and Jamune.
Since its establishment in 2033 BS, Panchakanya Secondary School has continuously expanded, now running up to grade 12 along with an official Early Childhood Development Center.
Parent Education Program Conducted to strengthen the relationship between parents and the school, promoting awareness about child development and effective learning support at home.
Handwriting Improvement Program Organized to enhance students’ writing skills, focusing on neatness, clarity, and presentation.
Level Determination Examination Administered to assess students’ academic level and readiness for promotion to higher grades.
Curriculum Orientation Conducted at the beginning of each academic year to familiarize teachers and students with the updated curriculum and teaching methodologies.
Subject-wise and Grade-wise Teachers’ Meeting Regular meetings held to discuss teaching strategies, student progress, and subject-specific improvements.
